WICHITA, Kan. (KSNW) - Several veterans were honored here in Wichita Saturday, but not with medals -- with quilts.
Quilts of Valor honored 14 veterans this afternoon with quilts.
It's a national foundation that started in 2003 that honors thousands of veterans across the country each year.
The quilts are a tangible representation of veterans returning from war.
"We want them to feel the warmth, the thank you, the compassion, the sense of family that we feel for them," said Jessica Vaughn, Greater Wichita Quilts of Valor.
The year is less than two weeks old but so far the Wichita chapter of Quilts of Valor have made 101 quilts and nationally they've made over 200,000.
